J.West and Nick Harvey

Art at the Shakespeare

Gorgeous array of work from four tallented Bristol artists.  The show is up at the Shakespeare in Totterdown till May 22.  Here is a preview of some of the lovely work you can see up there.

Jimmer Willmott

Bristol’s pop surrealist Jimmer Willmott has been unusually quiet on the Bristol art scene as of recent but has been nothing but busy with everything falling into place with his recent full time art career!

He’s excited about showing on home turf again and is currently exhibiting across the pond in Oregon, USA.

“Street show” runs all of October in the Portland gallery  “Brass Works” with the Chippenham’s “Simon Griffith” from  and Portland’s very own “Gregory Hergert”,

the show recently appeared in Juxtapoz and Hi fructose magazines!

Nick is an exceptional yet highly modest artist. His love of art started when he was just 5, with encouragement from his older brother, who is also an artist. Growing up on a farm and with a mother who worked as a vet, he was inspired to start drawing the animals around him, as well as the characters from his favourite anime 'Dragon Ball Z'. At college and University he learnt more traditional painting techniques, guided by his teachers who saw his potential.

After graduating from University Nick was prolific and innovative, creating work across a range of styles and using a variety of different mediums. His highly experimental techniques and particular flair for photo realistic images have led him to fulfil his childhood dream of becoming a highly successful artist with his images becoming  synonymous with the Bristol area. Despite this, Nick remains humble, "all I ever wanted to do is art and there is always something new to learn.."

Stu’s work is based upon a fascination with the figure and the human condition with strong foundations in classical technique and fastidious observational drawing. Interested in the surreal and the psychedelic (-however that’s spelt) he will tweak colour, perspective and/or form to create an augmented reality but always balanced with enough realism to retain a familiar relatability.
