John Curtis
John is an artist from Bristol and his work is based on the landscapes and the surroundings of Bristol. His work features famous landmarks and locations of the city such as the Harbourside and colourful houses of Hotwells or Totterdown to abandoned graffiti covered buildings in the inner city areas. John works in spray paint and acrylics and his work has a unique style with paintings featuring flecks of spray paint and drips making up the overall image. His work also features night scenes with trailing lights in the style of long exposure photography.
The work on exhibited at the Prilic exhibition features paintings of well known abandoned buildings, covered in graffiti. Such as long abandoned buildings in Bedminster and Stokes Croft, which are due to be redeveloped in the near future, his work highlights the gentrification of areas in Bristol where we’ll know graffiti and landmarks will soon be lost to the developers.”
